At Pet Doctors Support
Having a Support office means centralised support for clinics, shared resources and accesibility to a wealth of knolwedge nationwide, so our teams can provide a greater quality of care, to a greater number of pets. Together with support office, each Pet Doctors clinic support each other to achieve the highest standards in veterinary practice, and provide the best in service to clients.
Lead by Chief Executive Officer Dr Stephen Merchant, our leadership team work together to ensure our teams of regional managers, support office staff, veterinarians and vet nurses are delivering greater value, service and convenience to kiwi pets and pet owners.
The network of Pet Doctors clinics continues to grow, as existing clinics join the group and new clinics are launched.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER & CO-FOUNDER
Steve Merchant is Pet Doctors CEO, heading a senior lead team of experienced management professionals, leading our acquisition strategy and steering our strategic vision. He is dedicated to innovation and excellence across the Pet Doctors group.
Steve has worked with both companion animals and in mixed practice in the Auckland and Bay of Plenty regions since graduating from Massey University in 1982. A prominent and active member of NZVA and other veterinary interest groups, he was also involved for several years with the development of “Best practice accreditation” for veterinary practices.

Dan joined Pet Doctors in 2015 after 6 years in a similar position with a healthcare business in NZ. Dan has 20 years’ experience in accountancy and business and has worked in the UK and NZ. Dan looks after finance and IT for Pet Doctors and has a passion for helping growing businesses achieve their potential.

Jamie joined Pet Doctors in 2015 after 10 years working for ITC vendors in NZ. Jamie has 20 years’ experience in IT and business and has worked in the UK and NZ. Jamie looks after IT for Pet Doctors and has a passion for making IT understandable and just work.
Monique joined Pet Doctors in 2007 and prior to stepping into the HR Director role, she held the role of Senior HR Consultant and advisor to the group. Monique brings with her a wealth of knowledge in the realm of HR from a variety of industries, with a background in management in hospitality and service-based industries. Monique is passionate about employee development, as well as employer branding and engagement, for the purpose of delivering organisational goals, providing sustainability in the organisation, and facilitating a competitive edge in the industry.
Tania joined Pet Doctors in 2015 to oversee and direct the rapidly growing Pet Doctors brand and marketing. Tania has 16 years' marketing experience working in a number of healthcare marketing roles, most recently as Marketing Director at Bay Audiology. Her passion is creating meaningful customer communications that add value to both the customer and the organisation.
